Bridging strong experience with genuine human connection

Showcasing my work, values, and growth so you can quickly understand who I am and how I contribute.

A sleek, modern workspace representing Mike McKenzie’s professional portfolio, with a large, ultra-thin silver laptop open on a clean, light oak desk. On the laptop screen, a structured career dashboard is visible: neatly arranged project thumbnails, timeline graphs, and a prominent “Download Resume” button rendered as a simple geometric icon, avoiding readable text. Soft, diffused daylight enters from an unseen window, creating gentle reflections on the laptop and desk surface. The background shows blurred shelves with organized binders and a single minimalist abstract print. Photographic realism, eye-level composition, and a shallow depth of field keep the focus on the digital portfolio, conveying a calm, professional, and approachable atmosphere suitable for a career showcase homepage hero image.

Marketing & Demand Generation Leader

Michael McKenzie

I help brands turn attention into pipeline. Sixteen years in, I still love the puzzle of connecting the right message to the right people at exactly the right moment.

About Me

I’m a demand gen and marketing leader who genuinely likes building things.

Over 16+ years I’ve worked across enterprise B2B, life sciences, and the agency side — which means I’ve seen how marketing actually gets done from a lot of different seats. Right now I’m running demand gen as a team of one at a Boston-based marketing agency, and I’ve come to love the range that comes with it.

In the last stretch I led a full brand repositioning, rebuilt the website from the ground up, and stood up an AI-enabled content and campaign infrastructure that changed how fast we could move. The part I’m proudest of: building $3.5M in net-new pipeline against a $3M target.

I care about the numbers, but I care just as much about the people I work with and the story we’re telling. That balance is what keeps this work interesting to me.

What I Do

Four things I do well

Strategy & Leadership

Setting the direction, aligning teams, and owning the number. I’m comfortable building the plan and rolling up my sleeves to execute it.

AI & Automation

I build AI-enabled content and campaign infrastructure that lets small teams move like big ones — without losing the human voice.

Martech & Analytics

I like a clean stack and honest data. Connecting the tools, tracking what matters, and letting the numbers guide the next move.

Web & Content

From a ground-up website rebuild to the content that fills it — I care about work that reads well, ranks well, and actually converts.

Beyond the Office

There’s more to me than marketing

When I’m not thinking about pipelines and campaigns, you’ll most likely find me on a golf course or in a curling rink. Yes, curling — it’s a long story, but if you’ve ever tried it, you already know: it’s completely addictive. I’ve been at it long enough that I now serve as President of my curling club, which has grown to nearly 500 members. It’s been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done outside of work — building community, leading a team, and occasionally yelling ‘HARD!’ across a sheet of ice.

I grew up just outside Boston in Natick, Massachusetts, and that New England roots-and-grit mentality has stuck with me. I love to travel — this past spring I made it to Scotland, which checked a long-standing box for me (golf, history, and scenery all in one place). I’m always chasing the next new experience, whether that’s a new destination, a new skill, or just a book on something I know nothing about yet. Curiosity is what keeps life interesting.
